Gwangmyeong Upcycle Art Center is a local cultural regeneration project selected through a public contest hosted by the Ministry of Culture,
Sports and Tourism in 2014, and opened in June 2015 by remodeling the public relations building of a garbage incineration plant into an artistic space.
This place holds significance by serving as a space where local citizens and visitors can experience culture and voluntarily produce content.
This venue not only allows them to appreciate high-quality upcycled art works and undertake firsthand various upcycled art creation activities, but also serves as a regional hub for citizens' cultural and artistic gatherings.
To mark its 10th anniversary this year, Gwangmyeong Upcycle Art Center has prepared a new home for a new leap forward with a total grant of KRW 7.5 billion awarded through a Public contest in 2016.
Located near the Citizen's Gymnasium in Haan-dong, Gwangmyeong-si, the building is approximately 3,473㎡ in size with 4 floors high, and is designed as a space for upcycling startup and industrial support as well as upcycling-themed cultural and artistic activities.
It will be operated as a test bed for prospective eco-friendly entrepreneurs, inviting everyone to visit for upcycle startup businesses.
Gwangmyeong-si will continue on its path of development, so that citizens and visitors can naturally participate in upcycle activities through various upcycle culture, art, and education services and leading support for upcycle companies and entrepreneurs.
Thank you.
